AIR FILTER UMBRELLA

RESEARCH

Being one of the cities in SouthEast Asia with the highest level of air pollution, Hanoi has enormous challenges when it comes to designing outdoor public spaces. The persistent smog problem prevents people from enjoying themselves in the outdoor.

This project aspires to mitigate this by designing a hybrid structure between an umbrella and an air purifier. Not only does the inner air system supply cleaner air quality for the surrounding space, but also generates electricity from the solar cells on top and shields people from the harsh sun. It further activates an urban public space by creating a more pleasant micro-climate within a public park.
